Hi Glenn.
i loved the book Katie, and cried like a baby over losing Katie.
It's an excruciatingly painful situation, I know. I love the way
you write. I enjoyed meeting all the people in the book, you made
them come right out the of the book, into life for me.Did Peter go
to France with John and Ryan ? I'm thrilled you got Lucy. All the joy dogs bring us is worth the pain at the end. And so I'm happy
for you and Lucy for taking this big step. Thank you again for such
a great read...

I lost my lovable Maltease Duffy from cushings last May 29th, the day after my birthday.
She was really my granddaughter's pet but right from the beginning be closely bonded,
when I was at their home, which was frequently she only had eyes for me and would not even go for a walk without me going along.
She slept on my bed even though my daughter in law objected , Duffy would come over to me in the morning and wake me gently with her paw for a prolonged "belly rub"
She opened her own gifts at Christmas and Birthdays and knew how to ask for water and food.
I have so many beautiful memories, watching her circle the big oak tree trying to catch a squirrel.
In fact she did once.
After breakfast she had a favorite place in the hall where the sun streamed through the window panes.
She enjoyed licking my sons' feet but only his.
I would make her chicken and carrots whenever I saw her and after a few buts she would turn to look at me as if to say "Thank you Grandma" Likewise when I put her on the bed or the couch she would quickly turn and give me a quick lick, just to say Thank You.

A truly wonderful pet that will never be forgotten by me as long as I live and hopefully we will be together again sometime and I can make her chicken and carrots once again.

Lucy sounds like my TJ when he was a pup. Into everything. And people would get so mad at me because I would laugh him off. Yes, he chewed up an expensive pair of slippers. Sure I got mad for a little while. I learned to put things up out of reach. But he and I would play together and had so much fun. He is now grown and has settled down is a good watch with a different bark for friends. I loved the Katie book. Katie and Lucy have such personalities. Like my TJ but I'm not a writer to describe his antics.

I just finished reading Katie while home sick. I cried so hard when you talked about having to say goodby to Katie. I had a cat, Cinder, for 16 years. She was truly more human than cat and my snuggle buddy. When she died, it was sudden to me, but in retrospect not so sudden, I was at a loss as to what was I supposed to do without her. I felt I couldn't move past that. Leaving the vet's office after paying the bill is very surreal and it is a total disconnect. I went to your web site today and saw that you have Lucy. I wish you all the best and much happiness with Lucy. As time has passed, Callie followed Cinder, then Luna. There's always more love to give to the furry children!

Glenn -

Seriously - she is going to do whatever she wants because you let her! What training class have you taken WITH her? Do you limit her freedom when she acts poorly? That doesn't mean her own room on a couch - that means a crate or a pen. You can't use the excuse that she is going through separation anxiety since you are with her most of the time, right? I recommend Stacy Alldredge http://www.whoswalkingwhodogtraining.com/whopage.shtml

For what it's worth - Poochie was a fiend about the garbage - the dirtier the tissue the better (ew) so I finally had to limit his freedom when I wasn't home. It's been that way for over a year now and this past weekend I went out for about an hour and since my friend and her dog were at my house I didn't put Poochie in his pen. Guess what I found later that day when I used my bathroom? The garbage pail was gone through.....Wonder who did that?

Have you tried bitter apple? Of course, it can get exhausting spraying that on every one of your bills!!!

Good luck. Try Stacy.

Best,

Hey Glenn, I'm a groomer and I see this all the time. They usually start slowing down when they reach two years old. (but she is so darn cute!) Hang in there buddy!

What a (cute) little "terror" you have, Glenn! I certainly hope you could salvage the cash and that it was still usable. Have you thought of enrolling her in a puppy obedience class or something? ;)
